I waited for a little while for him to respond to that while I checked his profile. ‘Brand new to this!’ it read. ‘Old-fashioned man looking for a nice woman for friendship or perhaps more :)’, and that was it.

I stared at it. What did he mean by ‘old-fashioned’? Like, women-belong-in-the-kitchen old-fashioned, or I-won’t-try-to-screw-you-on-the-first-date old-fashioned? I hoped the latter.

Hmm. Well, maybe he’d do, at least for some time while I figured out how I was going to tell Sarah I liked girls. Because as much as every part of me didn’t ever want to do that, I probably needed to get onto that soon or I was going to ruin our entire friendship while I was, ironically, trying not to ruin our entire friendship.

Yeah, I might as well talk to this guy. What did I have to lose? Chances were me and him wouldn’t even hit it off anyway and I’d just end up with something to discuss with Sarah in the morning.

I took a deep breath and tapped ‘reply’. “So, what do you do, Stephen? :)”
